Trust your instincts. My number one rule when I started up. It got me this fair in business deals, contracts everything. I trusted my instincts and they were always right no matter what. My instincts strongly told me that Van and Elena had something together. For the very first time in years, I neglected it. I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
I refused to believe it but after today, what more proof do I need. I just don’t get why I’m so furious. So what if they’ve had sex. So what if he’s touched her.
At that thought, my fist connected with the table leaving a mark. My breathing was shallow.
What has this woman done to me?
His head snapped towards the door. I didn’t expect her to be out there or wanting to talk to me especially when she knows how angry I am.
I responded although my rage had began to set in.
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry for what happened in the office. I never meant any disrespect to you.”
“How funny? You didn’t mean to disrespect me? How about the woman whose husband you had and possibly still having an affair with. Who am I kidding? I don’t know anything maybe it wasn’t even one man? Are Billionaire CEOs your type?”
I spat out knowing how hurtful I sounded. For a second, she faltered and her face fell. I instantly felt bad but she played me for a fool first, I was simply returning the favour.
“I’m not in any position to change your mindset. If that’s what you think Sir then it’s okay.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“I’ll take my leave now Sir.”
“Don’t you dare move.”
“Do you have any work you want me to do Sir.”
I fired at her.
“Stop what Sir?”
I drawled out loosing my temper.
“Stop it. Just stop.”
That was all it took to drive me over the edge, I took fast strides and grabbed her arm forcing her to look at me.
“Why did you do it? Money? Power? Tell me huh.”
I spat out staring at her. She shuddered and released a breath.
“I don’t have to answer any of your questions. You already answered them in your head”
“Yes and the answers are driving me crazy. I need to hear it from you before I loose myself. Just tell me, why did you do it.”
My voice broke and I’m sure I looked weak and pathetic.
“I loved him.”
She says and it was like an arrow straight to my heart.
She clarified. I felt better knowing she didn’t feel anything for that bas***d anymore.
“I was a young girl who fell in love with a billionaire. I wanted it to be like the movies or books and guess what? He played me, used me and dumped me like trash. That’s what happened. I had no idea he was married. I’m not trash. I…..”
The anger I felt for her was redirected straight to Van Mikeslson. I wanted nothing more than to hurt the bas***d. She sniffled inhaling and exhaling.
“But you don’t care right? I mean you would do the same if you were in his shoes. Funny…”
She let out a short laugh adjusting her skirt to leave.
“Don’t Damon. Please don’t.”
She said reaching the door.
“I love you.”
I blurted out before I could stop myself. Saying that aloud was a self realisation of my own.
