ELENA
I rested for most of the day. As at Seven pm, I was well and ready to leave. I gathered my things waiting for him to arrive.
“Thank you so much kind Sir.”
I said for the upteeth time today. I doubted people like him still existed in today’s time. He even gave me something to eat. I’m just sad I don’t have anything to offer him in return, I have no money.
“You remind me of someone I cared for. It’s no problem. Just be careful my dear. I can only hope whatever you’re running from doesn’t catch up with you for now because you can’t run forever dear. I hope you remember that someday.”
I nod in understanding about to leave.
“Here, you need this more than I do.”
He handed me his car keys and a little bag. It contained some money.
“I can’t possibly…”
“I wasn’t asking my dear. Trust me, you need it more. It’s risky to stay here for long. Take the car to the highway. Ask for directions to leave the city and you’ll be fine. I’ll pray for you and I hope we meet again.”
He pecked my cheeks making my eyes water.
“Thank you Sir.”
I couldn’t help but hug him before rushing out. I followed his instructions and it’s a good thing I knew how to drive.
In a couple of hours, I managed to leave the city. Leave Van.

**PRESENT TIME**
Mr O’Cornner broke the silence and tension.
“I don’t think it’s in your job description to have relationship issues in the office.”
“He isn’t my…”
“I don’t care.”
He snapped rudely.
“We have a function to attend now so this would have to wait.”
“I don’t even know who this man is…”
I stated trying to explain myself.
“Elena are you seriously denying me just because he’s your boss.”
“I have no idea who the f**k you are but this isn’t funny anymore. Go away!”
I scream as loud as I can.
“I can’t let you go Elena. I love you.”
“What twisted joke is this!”
“This is really pissing me off Miss Salvatore. You’re testing my patience.”
“Mr O’Cornner, I swear it. I don’t…”
“You have two minutes to make him leave or you’re fired Miss Salvatore.”
“WHAT!”
I yell unable to breathe properly.
