T.I Amass Fomena Topples Over 16 Schools To Grab Quiz Title

The fourth Ashanti Regional ACME quiz contested by over 60 senior high schools in the region, saw 16 schools from four zones battle for the ultimate and T.I AMASS emerging victorious.

SIXTEEN Senior High schools qualified  from  the preliminary stage of the Ashanti Regional Acme Quiz congregated at Opoku Ware School (OWASS) on Tuesday, 1st February  2017 for the final contest. The schools were grouped into two categories, A and B, with eight schools in each.

The contest was to be organised for the two groups simultaneously from which four schools were to qualify from each group for the ”GRAND FINALE”.

At the end of the first contest,  FOMENA T. I. Amadiya came first with 68 points while Kumasi High School ,  Adu Gyamfi Senior High school,  ST Monica Girls Senior High School, followed with 43, 42, and 41, points respectively in Group A. The first four schools were therefore through to the Grand finales.

Meanwhile,  Opoku Ware School, Konongo Odumasi Senior School,  St. Michel Senior School and Asanteman Senior High school had also qualified from group B.

These eight schools out of the sixteen were then brought together to battle it out for the ultimate, first position.

At the end of the second contest,  Fomena T. I. Amadiya Senior High school emerged first with 63 points, with Opoku Ware school coming  second with 51 points and  Konongo Odumasi Senior High School,  the defending champions, was third with 50 points.

One beautiful and unique thing that happened was that in all the two contest, Fomena T. I. Amadiya Senior High school took a comfortable lead in the first rounds of English language with 20 points and maintained the lead till the end.

The quiz is organised annually  by the Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council (ARSRC) for all second cycle schools in the Region.

The region is divided into four zones. A preliminary zonal contest usually takes place in the first term of the academic year where four schools qualify from each zone to the finals.

CONGRATULATIONS “FAMOUS AMASS”, 2017 champions, you really worked for it.
