I banged on Kwesi’s door and entered without his answer, he was sitting at the edge of the bed.
“Kwesi, there’s something I need to tell you, it’s very important”.
He looked at me and smiled oddly.
“Yes, I know, you want to tell me that you have a boyfriend right, that boy you come home with?”
I staggered back in shock, I couldn’t believe my ears. How had he found out?
“No, no Kwesi, that’s not what I wanted to say”.
“Get out of my house; I thought you were better than all the other tramps trying to get my attention, turns out you are all the same”.
The tears came down so heavy I could hardly speak.
‘Kwesi please….please listen to me”.
“I don’t want to hear anything, tell me, is Fred your boyfriend?” he asked. “Kwesi please……….”
“Is Fred your boyfriend?” he shouted in a voice that sent chills down my spine. I nodded.
“Have you ever had sex with him?” I watched Kwesi for a few seconds, he was in pain, his eyes were bloodshot. I nodded.
He chuckled and nodded. “Thank you” he said and pushed me out of the room, locked the door and turned up the music.
Despite the loud music I could hear him crying. I was going to come over first thing the following day to talk to him, he needed to help before my family found out, and then we could address the cheating issue. Little did I know………..

When I got home, my auntie’s car was parked in the house which was a surprise, my auntie was from the village and we didn’t really get along well. I knew she was in town but didn’t know she was going to come here.
My mom called out to me from my dad’s hall when she heard the gate, I felt a sinking feeling in the pit of my belly but I assured myself there was no way they could have found out, when I got to his hall, I staggered.
My dad was sitting opposite my mom who was in tears, my auntie was sitting beside my dad, and my dad………….was holding the kit that read positive. I knelt before my parents as the tears started flowing.
I looked at my auntie and immediately knew why she was there, beside her was my travelling bag, they were sending me to the village.
I cried, pleaded, did everything I could, I think my dad was more infuriated by the fact that I wasn’t telling them who was responsible, by the time they managed to get me into my auntie’s car, I was too tired to cry or shout or beg.
My dad took my phone from me and smashed it into pieces before my auntie drove off. I understood, I had disappointed them, I couldn’t even look my mom in the face .As my auntie drove past Kwesi’s house, I looked up but the window was dark for his blue light was out.
