Kimberly’s pov
The doctor came in and treated my dad before going back. I stared at my dad, he was still sleeping. His body was bandaged.

I got up from the bed and went to my room to call Jayden. Just to check how he’s doing?

The phone rang the first, second and third time before picking up the last ring.

“Jayden, are you busy? I can…….”

“No, I’m not busy. I was just talking with someone so I left my phone on silent.” He explained. “So, how are you doing?” He asked and I couldn’t help but blushed.

“I’m fine. But, my father was shot.” I replied.

“Shot? How? When?”

“I don’t know. But he has been treated now.” I answered him. “Where are you? Still in Russia?”

“Yeah. I’m still here. Like I said before, I need to take revenge for what that bas***d did to me. Guess what? I found their warehouse.”

“You found it? What are you going to now?” I questioned. “Are you going to attack them soon?” I creased, waiting for an answer.

“Hey! Not now! Slowly I’m gonna do that. For now, I will be disguising as one of their workers. Evans is going to help me.” He responded.

“Evans? Who’s he?”

“Evans is a good friend of mine. We have plans. Just calm down, I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure? Jayden, I don’t want anything to happen to you.” I answered with a worry tone.

“Kim, I’ll be fine. Stop treating me like a baby.” He laughed and I wished he was caressing my head.

“Fine! if you insist. But please don’t make me get worried at all. I will be sad.”

“It’s okay. I need to go now. I will start working on the plan tomorrow.” He said.

“Tomorrow? Isn’t that too fast? Hayden be careful!” I warned him.

“It’s not too fast. I need to act fast also. I might be coming to your house this weekend.” Jayden uttered.

“Make sure you come. I’m expecting you!”

“I didn’t say I will be coming. I might.” Said Jayden.

“I’m not buying that. Just come. Have missed your handsome face so much. I Can’t just wait to see it again.” I squeaked.

“Kimberly, I know you love me. Do you think I feel the same for you?” His question took me off guard.

Jayden’s pov

The bas***d is going to lay for what he did to me. Finally, I traced his number down here.

He had called me earlier and told me that, he heard Kimberly is back.

The house looks like a ware house.

I ain’t ready to leave the country soon. I called Evans to text me the hotel he was staying. But he told me he had gotten an apartment. Good.

Evan has really been good to me. I boarded a cab and told the driver my destination.

Few minutes, I was there. The house was kinda big enough.

I pressed the button of the door bell and shortly, a woman came out.

Hmm….Evans! He can never change.

“I’m here for Evans. Is he home?” I asked the lady.

She replied with a nod and asked for my name.
“Ohh! He’s expecting you.” The woman beamed and ushered me in.

“Evans?” I called.

The man at the bar turned and faced me with a smile. He was holding a glass cup in his hand.

It really him. “Evans!!” I squeaked and ran to hug him.

“How have you been? Man, you’ve grown so much than i thought. This isn’t the same Jayden anymore.” Evan teased.

“Hey stop that! Don’t try to tell me I’m getting chubby now.” I rolled my eyes.

“I’m not saying that. Oh! Anyway, meet my beautiful fiancee, Tracy.” He introduced.

“Like you guys are engaged or what?” I creased.

“Yes.” Evans replied.

“Good day, Jayden. Nice meeting you.” She stretched her hand forward for a handshake which I took politely.

“Nice meeting you too. Once Evans misbehave, don’t forget to let me know. So, I can treat his f**k up.” I winked as I shook her hand.

We disengaged our hands.
Tracy went to go prepare something while I amd Evans decided to talk.

“You get to know the building by tracing the number?” I nodded and he continued. “That’s going to be our first target.”

“I’m thinking of disguising as a worker. The workers covered their faces with mask. That would be better. Whatever information i get in there, I give you to look into it.” I replied.

“Yeah. That’s a great idea. You need to find a way of getting into that warehouse. I will help you.”

Kimberly’s pov

“Dad!” I shrieked when I saw my dad In the pool of blood. What happened to him?

Who did this to him? How did he get shot? So many questions ran through my mind.

They are after him again.

“What happened?” I managed to say as I held my father’s hand tightly. He was taken to his bed and lay down there.

“He was shot by some men.” One of the boys said.

“And what were you doing? Where were you? Where did you go that they had to shot my father? Answer!” I fired at them.

“We are sorry ma’am. We couldn’t see that person who shot him. I think it was a set up.” The boy replied.

“A set up? Aren’t you there with him? How could you allow this to happen to him? Gosh! What are you his bodyguards for?” I ranted.

“We are very much sorry. We will try to protect him next time.” They apologized.

“Just got and called Mr Eric to come attend to him.” I dismissed them and faced my father.

“Who did this to you, father?” His eyes was looking pale. He seems to have lost a lot of blood.

I just pray he won’t die. I don’t want to be an orphan. I don’t want him to die.

He turned his head to me and gave me a wiry smile.
“Kim, don’t worry. I will be fine. It just a bullet.” He said in a weak voice.

“Dad, don’t tell me not to worry. You’re also telling me it just a bullet? Do you know what a bullet can cause in human body? You’re not fine in this condition. Who the hell did this to you?” I sighed.

“You’re just behaving like a child.” He smiled. “I will be fine soon.”

“I can’t wait for you to be fine. Have called Doctor Eric to come attend to you. He should be here soon.” I replied amd quickly went in search of the first aid kit.

Jayden’s pov

I came down from the building after I had surveyed the other one building. It was just a five storey building.

The bas***d is going to pay.

Kimberly’s pov
I got to my bed and lay down it. My phone beeped and I quickly took it from the lamp table.

The caller was unknown which made me creased my brows. Who’s this caller? Cause this phone is new and I’m sure Jayden didn’t put any numbers into it.

I shrugged and picked the call. “Yes, who’s this?” I said softly.

“Hey! Its new.” The voice replied and I immediately knew. He’s here. Finally.

“Jayden?” I called to confirm.

“Yes. Miss me already?” He let out his calm voice.

“Yes, Jayden. You’re still in the country?” I asked.

“Yeah. I won’t be going back for now.”

“What of your mother?” I questioned.

“She’s doing fine. Uhm…..I told Sarah to take her to my Father’s hideout.”

“Why? They are after her too?”

“Kind of. Any one who’s close to me can’t be left out. That’s why I asked you to go. I don’t want you to get hurt.” He groaned.

“I get it. Jayden, do you care so much for me?” My eyebrows arched, waiting for an answer.

“Yes, I do. Anyway, I’m just here to call you and asked if you’re at home already. Gideon got an information that you’re home already. I don’t know how.” Jayden spoke.

My heart skipped a beat. “What are you going to say to him?” I inquired worriedly

“I have my ways, Kimberly. You don’t have to get worried. Kimberly……” He paused. “Don’t go out, please. I don’t want you to get hurt. I’ll be worried if you get hurt.” He concluded.

I smiled when he said that. I couldn’t help but smile broadly. Oh! God! I wish I was with him.

I want him to be in hia hands, hugging me, cuddling me and giving me a kiss. But those things are impossible.

He doesn’t want me to be in his life any longer.

“I’m happy you care for me.” I managed to say.

“I need to go. Stay indoors amd don’t go out. Bye.” He hung up.

I breathed out and slept off afterwards.

The noise downstairs made me jumped up from the bed.

“Leave the way!” I heard.

I came down from the bed, opened the door and met my dad in a pool of blood.

Kimberly’s pov

I walked downstairs to the sitting room only to see him. Martin?
What the heck is he doing here? What does he want? Gosh! I thought i wasn’t going to see him forever again.

I don’t want to see him again. I don’t want him in my life again. But he came. He’s here. Standing right in front of me.

I tried my best not to unleash my anger on him. So, I asked, “What are you doing here?” Trying all the possible means to calm down.

“Kimberly,” He called with a smile on his face. A smug one. “I came back for you. I searched for you everywhere but I was told you were missing. Then again, I heard you’re back again. I decided to come here.” He stated and held my cheeks.

“So what are you trying to say? Whats your main reason for being here.?” I removed his hands from my cheeks and glared at him.

“I still love you, Kimberly. I mean, I’m sorry for what I did to you in the past. I thought I was enjoying life. I will never do that again.” He replied.

He grabbed my waist, pulling me closer to him and kissed me. I tore my lips away from him and pushed him.

“Don’t do that again. You know what? Have forgotten about you already. But you just showed up from nowhere. Well, I’m in love with someone else right now. You can move on with your life.” I told him as I stepped back.

“Seriously? You’ve moved on so fast? Were you expecting me to break up with you?” His voice came out hoarse.

“Martin, I don’t want your disturbance now. Please, I just came back from a long trip and I’m damn tired. I need to lay my back. That’s the way to the door. When you’re ready to leave, use the door.” I answered and turned to the maid that was busy cleaning the glass table in the room.

“You, my dad isn’t around right?”

“Yes, ma’am. He went out not long before this mister came in.” The maid answered amd i nodded.

“Okay, I need to sleep. Close the door when he’s out. Anyone who asked for me, tell the person I don’t want to be disturbed.”

The gjrl nodded and i dismissed her before going to my room. Not even a glance did I give Martin.

Kimberly’s pov

Why him? Why Jayden of all men? There are so many men around chasing me but I chose to love only him.

But he doesn’t love me back. Did he? No.

I sniffed and cleaned my tears. Finally we got to our destination and I hurriedly came down.

I was in a hurry, so eager, impatient to see my father. I entered the house and saw my father with some men around him talking.

He sighted me and we both beamed. “Kimberly!!” He shouted and ran to me.

He hugged which I did back. “You don’t know how much I missed you my daughter. You don’t know how you got me worried and mad when I heard you’re missing.” My father said and sighed and we disengaged.

He dismissed the men that were in the room and ordered some maids to prepare me food while I tell him my days in Italy.

“Where’s the boy?” My father asked. He was talking about Jayden.

“Father, I don’t know where he is now. I left him in the airport.” I answered.

“Oh! I should deal with him and also reward him good for taking my daughter amd back to me alive.” My dad chuckled.

It been long I saw my dad smile. He hardly smile or laugh ever since my mother died. It like part of him was dead too.

“Well dad, I will be staying here for a while. I’m sure you’re rival, Gideon would be expecting my body soon and he won’t take it easy on you.”

“Yeah, you will be staying here. I don’t want anything to happen to you again. Not anymore.” My dad responded.

Minutes later, the maids came and led me to the dining table to eat.

I ate to my satisfaction and made my way upstairs to one of the bedrooms to lay my back and sleep.

Just as I was about sleep. A maid came into my room and told me my attention was needed downstairs.

“Is the person my father?” I asked the maid but she shook her head. “Who could it be?” I arched my brows and got up from the bed.

I walked downstairs to the sitting room only to see him. Martin?
