I’m rethinking zooming out. If I didn’t, I would understand what Van just said. Maybe it’s business related and I’d still be clueless but at least I would have an idea. Maybe a hint from past discussion or something.
“Well yeah. Damon you’re a busy man. I wouldn’t want to add to that schedule by requesting you do it yourself. It’s a routine and compulsory but you can’t do it which is why you have a personal assistant. Elena to be specific”
I noticed Damon’s lips twitch slightly. He calls me Elena and that has to sound suspicious to him. It is suspicious to him but I noticed he kept his thoughts to himself.
“Yeah, I agree with you.”
“WHAT!”
I screamed inside but kept a straight face.
“But Miss Salvatore can’t do it. I’ll have someone else. She just started working here and I don’t want to drop that huge responsibility on her. Plus she has no experience as per that area.”
Van eyes twinkled because he knew just how much experience I actually had when it comes down to things like this.
“Well, I know but I talked to her this morning. She seems like a nice person to work with. I’ll train her myself but I want her.”
He smirked at the last part making me jump a little.
“So much for word play.”
I whispered sarcastically.
“Miss Salvatore, do you have a problem with it?”
“Hell yeah!”
I wanted to exclaim but I would need a valid reason, one that I can’t provide so instead I went with…
“Definately not, no problem at all.”
I forced a smile on my face afterwards.
“Great, I look forward to working with you.”
“Been there, done that. I know exactly how it ends and I can’t believe I’m about to be caught up in it all over again…”

Octavia got bored and let me slip away from her grip cackling as she walked away having given the guests the best show ever.
I dragged my disgraced self up to try and clean up.
Luckily, I had spare clothing in my lockers at the office. I quickly went to get those before moving towards the restroom. That’s when I saw him.
“What are you doing here!”
I snapped.
“Get out of my way, I have to wash this out of my hair before it’s permanent.”
“Elena am so sorry.”
“Oh, you can still talk. I guess I just figured maybe you’re dumb but I’m so glad you still having the gift of speaking.”
I fired at him. Every word dripping with sarcasm.
“Elena, my dad would….”
“Yeah, I know. You should’ve thought about your dad before you screwed me into believing that you cared for me. Used me for your leisure and now I’m the one paying the price.”
“Elena….”
“Get out of my way….. Sir.”
I clenched my teeth and brushed past him into the restroom sprinkling water on my face. I looked like a mess, I am a mess.

The more time I spent with him, the more I remembered our past. The more it hurt like hell.
“I’ll take my leave now.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow?”
Van asks making me halt and turn back.
“I guess you will.”
I responded and briskly walked away….
