. “Let’s buy him a mouth organ.”

“He isn’t worth it, and, he’ll think I like him or something. I don’t want him to feel on top of the world.” She replied.

“Just to cajole him now.” She grinned.

“And… where do you intend to get the money. You know we’re are managing.” She reminded her.

“Sorry… I thought we were rich.” She smiled.

Favour and Stella got to the front of the hotel. “We can do this, let’s go in.” Favour smiled in return.

Both walked in smartly. They got to the front of the receptionist and greeted the young lady. They told her what they came for and she directed them to Feyi.

***********

Tolani was laughing. He just ended the long term call between him and his friends, in Manchester.

They’ve made it a surprise for him that they’d visIt Nigeria to spend some weeks with him.  he felt he should just make a reservations at diamond hotel and besides, Feyi would be happy he brought his friends to her place.

. He drove at the front of the hotel amd wiped his face. He checked if his collar was well popped and if he was looking as handsome as he left home earlier.

“Yeah, I’m good to go.” He smiled and took some steps

Episode 7

He walked to the reception and told the receptionist he would like to see Feyi. He told him he had no appointment with him but he should call her and tell her Tolani would like to see her.

The receptionist told him she had some visitors, Stella and her friend were still in her office. She had told them to sit and apologized that she will take a little out of their time because she had to verify a mail on her laptop.

She just concluded the verification and was about addressing the ladies. “I’m sorry for keeping you waiting. You came for the job?” She enquired again, though she knew.

“Yes.” The laides chorused.

She picked up the phone and called Mr Adepoju, the chairman of recruiting committee. He didn’t pick up and she decided to call the receptionist to ask if Mr Adepoju had gone out.

As he picked up the call, he got her informed that Mr Adepoju just went out to meet a client.

Feyi remembered she had been told earlier, by himself.

“Another visitor is here… Mr Tolani.” He informed her.

“Let him in instantly.” She ordered the guy and hung up. “You may go.” He said to him and gave him the description of how he’d get to her office.

Tolani smiled and appreciated him. He approached her office slowly.

Mr Adepoju  entered into the office and almost disappeared on seeing the two ladies in his office. “How did you manage to get here?” He questioned them.

Stella and Favour stood up at once and glimpsed at each other. “The Madam, the C.E.O, I think.” Favour spoke.

“Miss Feyi right?” He asked and took few steos forward.

“Yes sir.” They both chorused.

He calmed down and walked to his seat. He sat down and removed his glasses. “Come right here.” He called them.

Both walked to his presence and stood. “Sit down.” He offered them seats and started his discussion.

“I’ve been told by the receptionist earlier that you guys came for the vacancies.”

“Yes sir.” Both of them said together.

“That’s pretty good, you guys came with application letters and your C.V?”

“Yes sir.” They both brought out their application letters and C.Vs. They handed it over to him and awaited his response. “You guys are really good, you don’t worth this job at all..” he said,  wondering on how they could have come for that kind of oppurtunity.

“We really need this sir, it’s Nigeria..” Stella spoke.

“You really think so? I don’t want you to work here with this kind of certificates, you worth more, you are to be respected.” Mr Adepoju was being considerate.

“Please sir, let’s be working here for the mean time, we’d get a better job. To eat is a big problem.” Stella sounded sad.

“Alright, if you insist. But I’ll try to make sure you ladies make it to the top.” He smiled and shook them. “I’ll speak with Miss Feyi about you and will get in touch with you.” He said.

“Alright sir. Do we leave our cell phone numbers?”

“Yes.”

→→→→

“It’s a thing they can start right away, they’ll be orientated by Chucks.” Feyi addressed Mr Adepoju.

“That’s nice ma, but you can help them..” He said slowly and sofly.

“That’s true, let’s start from this level before we move to the aspect of helping. I’ll try and do something.” She smiled.

“Thank you ma.” Mr Adepoju stood happily and left.

*****

Adepoju returned back to the office. He divulged the news to them happily that they could start that day because Feyi was so pleased. He told them they have orientation that would be handled by one of the committee members, Mr Chucks and they’d be work for night shift that day.

Though it was a good news, but on the other hand an unpleasant one. It wouldn’t be a good thing to be a cleaner in a hotel when one’s mates would be in big companies.

“When’s the orientation?” Favour asked.

“Let’s say in two hours’ time.” He smiled.

“Alright sir.” Stella replied.

“You can go home and come back, for the preparation of the orientation. Nice to join us, DIAMOND HOTEL.

*****************

“If we go home now, we’ll pay, while coming back, we’ll pay as well. Don’t you think waiting will be the best?” Favour suggested.

“That’s it. Let’s go and wait in the reception till we are called.” Stella replied.

Both stood up and walked to the reception to sit.

***

TWO HOURS AFTER.

The orientation was done for the two and were told to come and start their job by 7:00 pm that evening.

Stella and Favour left as soon as they could so as to start preparing for the job they just found. As they got home, Temitope Williams called Stella to know her state of health. Stella told him she was now very fine, in fact eating at home. Her utterances forced Temitope to ask her if she had no job.

“My friend and I are just jobless, idle and have nothing to do. We just came back from a hotel where we were offeres cleaning job. We’ll start tonight.”

“No! You ladies can’t do that. You are graduates as you’ve told me, why should you work as hotel cleaners? If you don’t mind, I can help you with that employment issue.” He replied her.

“Really? You can really do that?” Stella asked happily.

“It’s a thing that can be done easily. An assistant managing director for contracts is needed in this company. And your friend, she can be transferred to my second branch to head the Sales Department.” He explained.

Stella almost threw away her phone. She stood happily but made sure her happiness was well masked before Temitope who was speaking with her. “When should we come sir?” She asked.

“Since I just got you informed, come tomorrow morning.” He told her.

“I’m really grateful sir, I’m so grateful and will forever be grateful. Thanks so much sir.” She was appreciative.

“You’re welcome.” Temitope smiled and ended the call.

Tobiloba was the contracts managing director while Stella would be the new assistant to him.

I can’t stop laughing myself, share for the next episode

MAKING VOWS IN A RELATIONSHIP 5

It is not uncommon to find young lovers in their excitement making promises to do this and do that and hoping that this feeling and commitment remain the same forever.  They forget in a soak to selves that no condition is permanent and that the feeling of today may not guarantee same feeling tomorrow. And of course love is not the only ingredient that sustains love relationship or marriage even though it is an essential one.

My studies of human love relationships and listening to numerous personal experiences of people have made me to assume a conclusion that in most cases, TO BE QUICK TO LOVE IS TO BE QUICK TO QUIT – A TIME TAKEN IN LOVE MAKES A LASTING LOVE.  And of course, many people mistake love for like, infatuation, care, attention, acceptance and sex – While any or all of these may be expected in true love, none of them is love.

We are social beings who interact with people every day and we have open and secret admirers as well as we are capable of openly and secretly admiring people of the opposite sex for whatever reasons.  To this effect one needs to understand that love relationship is not the end, it MAY only be a mean to an end (MARRIAGE) and of course, it is a time of studies and evaluations, building love and trust, and seeing the possibility of a better future.  BY NO MEAN IS IT APPROPRIATE FOR TWO LOVERS TO WRAP ONESELF IN A LIFETIME COMMITMENT WHEN ONE IS NOT SURE OF WHAT THE FUTURE BRINGS – EXCEPT IN MARRIAGE.

With no promise or vow, one can wisely and freely stay in a relationship and be ready to say goodbye the moment one begins to deal with a situation that he/she cannot cope with in the relationship – But unfortunately, some have made themselves imprisoned to relationships that they find it difficult to get out even when everything turned abusive.  So – be free to live your life – and yet be careful because you cannot guarantee the future of your new found love – for whatever reason, he or she may be better or worse than the former.

Can one break the promise?  YES – by going back to the one with whom one made the promise and ending it. This doesn’t mean that they are no longer friends – friendship can continue in absence of promise. But one should note that “It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows”(Prov. 20:25) therefore “Never let your mouth cause you to sin and don’t proclaim in the presence of the angel, “My promise was a mistake” (Eccles 5:6)

MAKING VOWS IN A RELATIONSHIP 4

0

When a man approaches a woman or a woman approaches a man to establish a love relationship – at the time of agreement to start the love relationship, a kind of promise or commitment is already established.  However it is a kind of promise that is not bonded or sealed.  All things being equal, such relationship may end up in a covenantal bonding.

What will make two people in a love relationship that is not yet marriage to make vows never to leave each other?
1.      True Love
2.      Possessiveness
3.      Lack of trust
4.      Insecurity
5.      Inferiority Complex
6.      Deception

As earlier expressed, people who exchange such promises to stick forever with each other whether or not it leads to marriage do so sometimes to prove their love when they are mostly or likely carried away by their emotional attachments or when they are just excited.  But it must be noted that such promises may actually be nothing but infatuation that proves no love.  For many in such situation experience several forms of abuses – physical, emotional and spiritual/religious – and yet the abused is unable to walk away because of the promises or vows made.  And it is good to note that it is possible that only one of the parties is truly serious with the promise made while the other just play along to pretend the same commitment and win fake trust or just to make the other person feel good.

Life situations show that loving someone dearly does not mean that one cannot fall in love with someone else, and definitely does not mean that other people will not admire and even make frantic efforts to establish special love relationship with one.

Now the question is, can one break such promise/vow if one happens to fall in love with someone else?

Be Blessed

IT’S FRIDAY, BUT SUNDAY IS COMING!

0

By Tony Campolo                                                                    ….

“It’s Friday. Jesus is praying. Peter is sleeping. Judas is betraying. But Sunday is comin’.

It’s Friday. Pilate is struggling. The council is conspiring. The crowd is vilifying. They don’t even know that Sunday is comin’.

It’s Friday. The disciples are running like sheep without a shepherd. Mary is crying. Peter is denying. But they don’t know that Sunday is comin’.
It’s Friday. The Romans beat my Jesus. They robe Him in scarlet. They crown Him with thorns. But they don’t know that Sunday is comin’.
It’s Friday. See Jesus walking to Calvary. His blood dripping. His body stumbling. And his spirit burdened. But you see, it’s only Friday. Sunday is comin’.

It’s Friday. The world is winning. People are sinning. And evil is grinning.

It’s Friday. The soldiers nail my Saviour’s hands to the cross. They nail my Saviour’s feet to the cross. And then they raise him up next to criminals. It’s Friday. But let me tell u something: Sunday is comin’.

It’s Friday. The disciples are questioning. What has happened to their King. And the Pharisees are celebrating their scheming has been achieved. But they don’t know: It is only Friday. Sunday is comin’.

It’s Friday. He’s hanging on the cross feeling forsaken by His Father. Left alone and dying. Can nobody save Him? Oooh, it’s Friday. But Sunday is comin’.

It’s Friday. The earth trembles. The sky goes dark. My King yields His spirit.

Its Friday. Hope is lost. Death has won. Sin has conquered. And Satan is just a laughing.

Its Friday. Jesus is buried. A soldier stand’s guard. And a rock is rolled into place.
But it’s Friday. It is only Friday.
Sunday is comin’.”

“I’m Stella. Firstly, I want to advise you on drinking. It’s a very bad habit that can result into Kidney damage.” She stopped, willing to know what he’d say.

“Carry on, story teller.” He hissed.

“I’ll be coming here everyday to prepare you meal, I wish to know your place of work, likewise if I can be bringing food for you.”

“See, don’t let me see you here!” He said softly because of the Grandma.

“I’ll tell Grandma.”

Tobi was silent. “If you tell her, I’m going to kill you!”

Stella laughed. “

****

“The guy’s really mad oh…” she replied.

“Mad?” Temitope was here in the morning.” Favour changed the topic.

“That guy…” she smiled.

“I knew you’d be happy. I gave him your phone number, he said he’d call you.”

Stella smiled.

Tolani was in his room, couldn’t take Stella’s image off his mind. He had been emotional for hours, in his room. He was just imagining what might have happened to her or changed about her. He wished to at least see her that day but there was nowhere he could go to search for her.

Episode 6

Even though it was hard to believe, Stella changed her dress and took Favour along with her to Tobi’s place. She wanted to fulfill all righteousness, so that she wouldn’t be termed as a bad person.

She called the Grandmaa and got her informed that she was going to Tobi’s place. It was sunny, she hoped to meet him at home. “Let’s buy him a mouth organ.” Favour suggested.

Tobi was at home with two of his friends; Sola and Emmanuel. He was targeting 4pm with his friends to go to the joint to drink as usual when Stella knocked at the door. “Is he the owner of this place?” Favour asked her.

“Yes, he’s okay.” She replied.

“That’s good, really good.”

“But he’s weird.” She hissed. She remembered Tolani, he was the one that did utter the word ‘weird’. She did remember him often and it would change her countenance anytime she did remember.

She felt like seeing him. She felt like holding his hands like they did almost five years ago. She felt like hearing his voice, funny jokes and wise words. She’d sometimes sit and chid herself, scold herself against breaking their relationship apart but she knew she had impacted in him by breaking them apart.

If she didn’t do that, even if he would not be searching for employment opportunity now, his certificate wouldn’t be as great as it was.

She was proficient at settling things to be the best. She wanted the best thing for him, if not, she wouldn’t have broken up with him.

“This sun is scorching.” Favour tapped her friend.

Stella comported herself back and became self conscious. She knocked again and patiently waited for him to open the gate. Not quite long after, She saw him approaching through a thin space between the gate. “Who’s it?” She heard a voice from within.

“Stella.” She replied.

Stella?  What’s she doing here again? What’s wrong with this girl! He thought and placed his hand on the gate. “Hope there’s no problem?” He enquired.

“Grandma said I should come and prepare you food.” She replied.

“Food? do I look hungry?” He questioned her.

“I have something to do if you’re not ready.” She turned around as if she was ready to leave.

“Wait.” Tobi stopped her and opened the gate. He walked outside and saw Favour with her. “Good afternoon.” He greeted Favour, bending a little.

“Good afternoon sir.” She bowed too.

Tobi smiled. “Just come in.”

Both of them walked in.

****

“So what do you intend to cook?” Tobi asked Stella.

“What do you have at home that you’d like to eat?” She replied with a question.

Tobi closed the gate and turned to them. He glimpsed at Favour while their eyes met and took his eyes off at once. He exhaled deeply and smiled. “Let’s go in, my friends are in.” He started walking.

“Friends?” Stella muttered and gave Fave a sharp glance. They both halted, how would they appear before his friends? “Friends?” Stella spoke up, she wanted him to hear and see what his reaction would be.

He turned around and smiled. “Yeah, my friends.”

“We can’t go in oh..” Stella turned her head towards Fave, and started itching her head.

Tobi chuckled. “You want to cook? Come right in.”

“Thought you said you weren’t hungry, let’s make it another day.” She turned around, awaiting him to call her back, or persuade her.

“Alright. You guys may leave.” He was happy and walked up to them to lock the gate.

****

MONDAY MORNING.

Favour and Stella got to the front of the hotel. Stella’s heart was beating fast as she stared at the name of the hotel – Diamond Hotel. She felt her pulse herself and smiled faintly. She gazed at Favour and smiles again. “We can do this, let’s go in.” Favour smiled in return.

Both walked in smartly. They got to the front of the receptionist and greeted the young lady. They told her what they came for and she directed them to Feyi.

Though, Feyi wasn’t in charge of the recruiting and employment management, but she felt it would be right to know the ladies that would like to take up the job. “Alright.” Both of them chorused and followed the direction.

Both walked swiftly as if they were been chased by something. They halted on getting to the door of her office and looked at each other. The receptionist had called Feyi to tell her about the ladies that were heading to his office.

Stella and her friend knocked faintly and entered when they heard her voice.

***********

Tolani was laughing. Since he got back to Nigeria, that would be his first time of laughing as much as that. He was always moody, thinking of Stella. He just ended the long term call between him and his friends, in Manchester.

They’ve made it a surprise for him that they’d visIt Nigeria to spend some weeks with him. On New Hemisphere, Manchester to Nigeria was just 10 hours and 48 minutes. He glimpsed at his wrist watch and it was just some minutes past seven.

Four of his friends told him they’d board the flight by 8am, GMT. He stood up at once, he must make neccessary preparations for their arrival. He didn’t have Feyi’s number, he would have called her to tell her about his coming. He knew the way to Diamond Hotel because he had passed the front of the big hotel before, the day he was heading to a boutique.

His father had told him that Feyi was the one heading Diamond Hotel and he felt he should just make a reservations there and besides, she would be happy he brought his friends to her place.

He staired down and entered into his car. He was happy his friends would come to Nigeria to visit him. He too must find time to visit them in Manchester. He was imagining how Frankenstein would survive, because he hated heat so much.

He was happy. He had also thought of it that it would be his first happy day in Nigeria since he got back. He drove at the front of the hotel amd wiped his face. He checked if his collar was well popped and if he was looking as handsome as he left home earlier.

“Yeah, I’m good to go.” He smiled and took some steps

MAKING VOWS IN A RELATIONSHIP 3

0

image

Priests and the Religious by the nature of their calling make vow/promise/swear to God to live in obedience, chastity and poverty; marriage is contracted between a man and a woman in a marriage covenant to love and to hold in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth till death do them part (cf. Rom 7:2; 1 Cor 7:39); the complainant, the defendant, and witnesses take oath with the Bible or Quran or the constitution  or the object of the faith to say the truth; and those taking up political offices or someone who is trying to be a citizen of another nation take oath to honor, observe, and defend the constitution of that nation; people make personal promises or vows to God or to self to do or not to do something to expedite  one’s prayer or intention or modify one’s behavior.

In true life situations priests and religious may break their vows, married people may break faith, presidents and governors and those in political offices may not fulfil what they promised or vowed to do, people who take oath to say the truth may lie, and those who take oath to defend a country and her constitution may betray the same nation.  Even though it is expected that there is repercussion for breaking their vows, oaths, and promises, they may not experience immediate consequences yet one needs to know that promises, vows, oaths, and covenants to God, self or others can bring about biopsychosocial and spiritual consequences.  Hence “when a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but MUST DO EVERYTHING HE SAID” (Num 30:2).

In whatever situation, breaking faith or not keeping the promise or the vow hurts the relationship and of course affect the other party or parties to whom the promise or vow is made.  Not keeping the promise or vows makes one a liar and a sinner, a person with no integrity.

The question remains, is it appropriate for unmarried persons make promise or vow to each other?

“Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.” (Mal 2:13-14)

Be Blessed.
