“What do you think should solve this problem?” another soldier stood up and asked. “I think we should kill her and her bastard baby,” another soldier suggested. “Yes!! That is what we will do. Kill the woman and her bastard child!!!! Kill the woman and her bastard child!!!! Kill the woman and her bastard child!!!!” They all chanted in unison. So with that, some of the soldiers plotted to kill Zaza and her baby, Alan.
“When I opened the door, I immediately became alive as I saw my husband standing in the doorway with smiles on his face. I was very happy to see him,” Derby said.
“Yes, and what happened next?” William asked.
“After five seconds of seeing his smile, I realized the smile on his face was being replaced by another emotional gesture.”
“And what gesture was that?” William interrupted.
“Hmmm, pain!!! He showed signs of pain and I became greatly worried. I came out of the house and held him by the hand, but he just fell on the ground. I became frightened and shook him on the ground. When I took my hands off him to ask for help from my neighbors, I saw blood on my hands. I became more frightened and turned him over. My husband was shot. The blood came from a gunshot wound on his back. I screamed for help, but it was of no use. My husband was dead. I cried my eyes out,” Derby said and broke into another round of uncontrollable tears. William consoled her until she stopped crying.
Meanwhile, the soldiers who were plotting to kill Zaza and her baby were looking for ways and means to execute their plans. They sort for opportunities, but had none. They yearned and waited for their leader to go out of camp so they could carry out their diabolic plan, but it seems Colonel Kaboko was glued to his seat. He made sure Zaza was fed three times daily.
“Private, we need to execute our plans. Can’t you see we have been turned virtually into cooks for that woman and her bastard baby? I can’t take this humiliation anymore. This nonsense must end before the sun rises tomorrow. We must kill the woman and her bastard child,” one soldier lamented while speaking at a rendezvoused meeting.
“Sir, I couldn’t agree with you less on this. I wouldn’t have supported this plot initially, but looking at the harm this issue causing in the camp, I think it will be best they die. Colonel can no longer concentrate on the mission. He hardly even leaves his tent. We should carry out this operation at night, the private soldier said buttressing the point of the other soldier.
“I have even heard the woman is a witch. She carries on herself charms which can even tame the most fearsome lion. I think she has used the charm on Colonel to subdue him. We must kill her!!! Another soldier blurted out furiously.
With that, they drew their plans and tactics on how to go about the killing. The operation was supposed to take place at night while everyone was sleeping. The core of the operation was, Zaza’s death was supposed to look like an accident. After planning their diabolic attack on the innocent mother and child, they dismissed the meeting and went to their various posts.
The time for the operation finally approached, and the soldiers organized themselves to move into action. They maneuvered their way through the darkness and headed to where Zaza slept. They saw no movements as they approached the tent. The leader pointed to the other soldiers to take their positions which they obliged. With all things working in their favor, they launched their attack. They moved with brutal force into the tent and started shooting.
After shooting a few bullets, they realized Zaza wasn’t in the tent. Immediately they heard a voice outside. “Are you looking for the mother and the baby!!? They are far from where you are.” The soldiers became terrified as they heard the loud voice echoing through the darkness. They realized it was a voice they were familiar with. It was Colonel Kaboko’s voice. They became frightened the more. They knew the consequences that followed betrayal in the camp.

Earlier, Colonel Kaboko was in his office when a soldier approached him with urgency. The soldier revealed how some of the soldiers were displeased with how he treated Zaza and had planned to execute her that night. “Please Colonel, save her from their hands because they really mean to do her harm. I don’t support what they are doing because it is not part of our rules of engagement to kill women and children. That is why I have reported the issue to you. They have planned to attack at midnight when everyone is sleeping,” the soldier said as he took leave of Colonel Kaboko.
When Colonel Kaboko heard what the soldier said, he ordered for Zaza to be brought to him immediately. He made Zaza stay with her until midnight. He gathered a few soldiers and laid ambush for the disloyal soldiers.
Apparently, the soldiers who wanted to kill Zaza didn’t know of the ambush and therefore walked right into it. They were now in Zaza’s tent surrounded by Colonel Kaboko and his soldiers. “Drop your weapons and come out with hands on your heads!!!” Colonel Kaboko commanded. After two minutes, the soldiers came out of the tent unarmed and with their hands on their heads.
Colonel Kaboko’s soldiers entered the tent and brought out their weapons. It was then Colonel Kaboko made himself visible to them. He emerged from the bushes behind them wielding a Beretta 92G semiautomatic pistol. “Drop on your knees!!!” he commanded again, and the soldiers obeyed while trembling violently.
“You went behind me and plan another operation in my camp!!? You staged an attack on an innocent woman and child!!!? This stupid and callous act wouldn’t be left unpunished. You know the rules and regulations in this camp. The punishment for disloyalty is death, and I will give you all what you deserve!!” Colonel Kaboko said in fury.
He pointed his pistol to the first man, bang!!!! He pointed to the second man, bang!!!! He shot all of them and they dropped dead to the ground like a fallen tree. He assembled the soldiers and gave a brief speech. He dismissed them after the speech and each man went to his post.
“What was all those noise about, Colonel?” Zaza asked immediately she saw Colonel Kaboko. “Why did you ask me to leave my tent and come here?” Zaza continued to ask impatiently.
“I told you the first time we spoke that, I will keep you and your baby safe from any harm. I was just doing that. Some of my soldiers planned on killing you at midnight and I had to intervene. There is no need to worry, they are all dead. So don’t be scared. You are not under any threat anymore,” Colonel Kaboko said and sat down on his chair.
