Ghana Vrs Naija Jollof for Peace was held on the 26th of November 2016 at the Junction Mall Nungua in the city of Accra. At the entrance of all the manifestations of the event, some spectators were subjected to a game which consisted in tasting the two Jollof to distinguish the Ghanaian Jollof from that of Nigeria.
The spectators who attended also enjoyed the tasting of the two Jollof. However, none of the dishes (Jollof) was declared better for the simple reason that this was not the real purpose of the contest.
Sala, one of the organizers of the event, said that the real purpose of the contest was to promote African dishes.
“We are celebrating Africa. By organizing this competition, we wanted to put equally the dishes of Africa and the dishes of the other continents. Look for example dishes such as fries or burger, Westerners promote it, so why not do as much? “She said.
For Sala, European dishes are very well promoted. She added that neither Ghana nor Nigeria wins but rather the whole of Africa. Performances of different dance groups marked the evening.
