Devil’s Bride Episode 89

Hazel’s p.o.v

I couldn’t help but to feel bad about what I did, he must have had a long day at work.

Not wanting to disturb him yet, I raised his shirt up once again to check the gauze on the side of his stomach and could see the gauze was starting to get soaked with blood.

In the hope of finding the things he was applying on it and the things to dress it with, I went in search of it in his room.

As I made to start redressing it, he stirred in his sleep before his eyelids finally fluttered open.

“Don’t move.” I gave him a side glance.

He obeyed.

I carefully peeled the blood soaked gauze from the cut and doing so what I saw was not a slight cut but a very deep one like that of someone being stabbed.

Knowing he wouldn’t tell me what happened, I set to redress it.

He had his gaze on me the whole time.

“You should go to the hospital for proper treatment so it doesn’t get infected.” I told him after I was done.

“I will make sure to do that.”

“I’m going in now,” I turned to leave.

He grabbed my hand to stop me before I could turn and then stood up to be at the same level with me.

“Are you still angry with me?” He asked.

“I’m not.”

“I know you are still angry with me.”

“You are hiding things from me madrigal, why? There was that of the day we went out for a stroll and that of today’s. What’s really going on?”

“You are doing the same thing. You are hiding things from me too.”

“Why do you think I’m hiding things from you?”

“I know things aren’t going on so well with you at work but you aren’t telling me anything.”

“How can you be so sure?” I countered.

“I know when you are in a good mood and I know when you are not. Since the beginning of this week, you’ve not being yourself. You should let me know whenever you are going through a hard time.” He looked pained.

“Are you ready to do the same?” I asked.

He didn’t say anything.

“Is that a no?”

It turned out none of us was ready to get the other bothered whenever the other was going through a hard time.

“I will tell you the things I know you can bear with and think you should know about, that’s a promise.” He eventually said.

“I will do the same.”

“No you can’t.” He disagreed.

“You have to always let me know whenever you’re having a hard time.”

“That’s unfair, why are you not promising me you will always let me know whenever you are having a hard time too?” My voice was raised.

“Because I want to be the ever selfish one.”

At his words, my gaze faltered.

Before going to bed that night, he made me tell him about the things going on with me at work and then promised to help in any way he can.

Time skip

After a week of going to Jameson’s apartment and not seeing him, I found out he already relocated.

With no idea of where he relocated to, there was no way I could do anything about what happened anymore. A new guy, Andrew was employed to take over his position.

It didn’t take long for everything to go back to normal but I still feel so bad about what happened to Jameson and wondered what whoever did it was after.

A week passed after that and I was still yet to find out where he relocated to.

I just got back from work that day which was a Monday and was in the living room watching a movie when I heard my phone ringing.

It was a call from Annabel.

“Hey babe, evening.” I greeted.

“Have got good news.” She screamed over the phone.

“What is it? I don’t have to guess right?”

She laughed at that.

“No. Can you come out for a while?”

“I’m actually free. Where are you?”

“At the cafe close to your place.”

“I’ll be there in five minutes.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

After the call, I quickly went to change my clothes and after grabbing my car key and telling Anthony to tell madrigal in case he gets back before me that I would be out for a bit at the cafe close by, I left the house.

She already reserved a seat close to the glass wall.

Our order was placed before us.

“What’s the good news?” I asked eagerly.

A bright smile creeped to her lips at my question.

“Tell me already.”

Instead of answering, she raised her left hand which she had under the table the whole time up to reveal the diamond engagement ring on her fourth finger.

“What!” I exclaimed with great excitement.

“I’m getting married.” She announced.
