Hazel’s p.o.v
At the end of the day, I came out with six shopping bags which I considered to be too much still..
Some minutes after we got back home from the mall, madrigal left the house after receiving a call from his dad and that leaving me alone in the house with Anthony.
I was in the living room watching a movie when the doorbell rang.
It was the pretty attendant from the mall we went to when I checked.
I opened the door and was met with her smiling face.
“Good evening Mrs madrigal. Remember my face?”
“Sure, Rose Waters, the attendant from P & M mall.”
“Oh, you really have a good memory.”
“Not really.” I said and we both laughed.
“I’m actually here to deliver some things.” She informed.
That was when I noticed the sleek car parked outside with a young man at the steering.
She opened the rear door of the car and started bringing out black shopping bags.
I stood still, dumbstruck so that she had to open the door herself to take them in.
Just when I looked at the heap of shopping bags and thought that was all, she brought out more from the trunk.
They were up to about thirty bags.
“These are for you.”
“For me?”
“Yes and that done, I will like to take my leave now, Mrs madrigal.” She said after she was done with putting them all in.
“Alright, thanks.”
They turned out to be all the clothes, shoes, bags and jewelry I admired but ignored because they were too expensive.
That was when I remembered seeing madrigal whispering something to her before she left with me to pick out the ones I came home with.
She really had been taking note of the ones I touched but abandoned after checking the price tags.
I left everything the way she arranged them and with crossed legs, folded arms and a crossed face, I sat on the living room couch waiting for him to return.
He didn’t return back no matter how long I waited.
With my back becoming stiff from sitting for too long, I changed my position to lie on the couch and I found myself starting to feel sleepy.
I woke up the following morning in the bed in his room.
He wasn’t beside me but was before the dresser, dressing up for work.
It was still so early I had to wonder why he was dressing up so early.

“Madrigal.” I called as I sat up in bed.
“You’re awake. Happy birthday love.” He flashed me a charming smile.
I scoffed.
He walked over to me and kissed me on the forehead before walking over to the side-table to pick up his phone.
“You can’t bribe me with that, you know I’m angry with you.”
“Why are you angry with me?”
“Like I have to tell you before you know.”
“Just take them hazel.” He pleaded and I simply rolled my eyes at him.
“As your birthday present- from me.”
That moment his phone started ringing.
“I should get going.”
“Why so early?”
“There is a lot to do at the company today.” He walked over to me.
“Can I get a hug before I leave?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Can we return them?”
“No.” He shook his head.
“Then no hug.” I concluded.
“Hazel!” He laughed.
“Please.”
“No.”
“Okayyyy. No problem.” He walked over to his dresser.
I was still wondering what he was up to, when I saw his hand reaching for my cologne.
“What do you want to do with that?”
“Spray it.”
“On what?”
“On my shirt.”
“Why would you do that?” I asked.
“Caaauuse I will like to have your scent on my shirt.” He uncapped it and was really going to spray it.
“Don’t do that. That’s a lady’s.”
“Who cares.” He made to spray it.
Before he could spray it, I rushed over to where he was.
And as I made to snatch it from him, he chanced me and pulled me onto his chest, wrapping his arms round me before I could wriggle out of his hold.
The peppermint scent of his cologne took me over and I felt my anger vanish.
“I’m going to miss you.” He whispered softly close to my ear.
“Shhh…” I hissed but found myself wrapping my arms round him.
“For your birthday… we are going out tonight okay?”
“Where?”
“It’s a secret and oh, less I forget, ‘my pillow’ called at 12 to wish you a happy birthday and your parents too.” He chuckled.
“Why would you even save your best friend’s number with that?”
“Are you questioning how I save contacts on my phone?”
“I wouldn’t do that.”
His phone started ringing again.
“You should get going.” I said though I was reluctant to let go.
He released me from the hug, kissed me and hugged me again before leaving for work.
