I squealed in my mum’s tight embrace as we stood before our reserved table at De Vil Bonit.
California restaurants were pretty damn beautiful compared to anything I have ever seen.
Then again, this is cali.
Before Kyle and I came, I decided to get dressed into a simple white dress, my hair done wavy down.
Kyle was wearing a black and white suit and tie with a bow tie.
Anyways, this was a fancy restaurant, and I never wear anything pass simple.
“Mum, how did you guys…. When did all of you get here?” I said as I walked towards Kyle’s parents and hugged them.
“This is so exciting. ”
“Isn’t it? And oh my God, look. Doesn’t she look fabulous in that dress? I mean…”
“It’s okay. Alright. Now is not the time to bring your business here.” Kyle’s father cut his wife off, shaking his head.
Kyle’s mother is a fashion designer, she owned a business in California and other states around the country called le’ jenour or something.
It was a combination of love and jenna.
Kyle chuckled at his mum and leaned towards me.
“Its funny how she is my mom. We are nothing a like.”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
“Liar. You take long enough in the closest.” I crossed my arms.
He put a hand over his chest playfully, den leas me to one of the big, velvet chairs of our table.
“My lady.” He bowed with his arm as he pulled my chair for me to sit in.
I skipped my way over and kissed his cheek, sitting down.
“Thank you, kind sire.”
He went around me and sat on the chair next to mine.
“Looks like you two are getting along fine. ” dad cleared his throat, glaring at kyle.
“Don’t take another step.”
“I already did. ”
my cheeks grew hot when I knew he was referring to the night I lost my virginity with him.
Did he really have to say that?
“What?” My Dad gritted his teeth.
Kyle widened his eyes realizing what he said, but smoothly played it off with a chuckle.
“I’m joking, Mr Arthur. Chill.”
Surprisingly, my dad did just that.
He actually fell for it, which isn’t the norm for him.
“So,” Kyle’s mother began, changing the topic awkwardly after giving me a wink.
“You must be wondering what we are here for, right?”
Kyle looked up and nodded.
I hadn’t realized until now that we were holding hands under the table.
His fingers were intertwined with mine.
Our hands were resting on his lap; every now and then, he would play with my fingers and stroke them.
It was nice and sweet.
“We did a lot of thinking and we decided that….”
My mum jumped in,
“That we want to place the wedding date closer. ”
I bit my lip, feeling the butterflies erupt in my tummy.
This always happens when the wedding is brought up into discussion.
It happened the day at Philomena too, when they first announced the wedding.
“If it’s okay with you two, I think the wedding should be held sometime in three weeks.”
Kyle turned his head towards me, and I looked at him too.
He didn’t say anything. He just stared at me.
It wasn’t a blank stare.
It definitely held something, but I couldn’t figure out What he was trying to tell me.
Did he want to call the wedding off?
My breath hitched at the thought of that.
“Mom,” kyle began.
“Actually, there is something I have to do and I haven’t done so, when I should have…”
We all furrowed our eyebrows in confusion until what happened was totally and utterly out of thoughts.
Kyle stood up and called a waiter’s name, I guess for cue.
Every light in the restaurant was blacked out.
What in the actual world?
In a matter of seconds there was only one, dimmed golden light in the place and that was right above me and Kyle.
And then….it happened.
He smiled at me, before finally landing on his one knee.
He took my hand with his and kissed it lovingly until he looked back at me again.
I felt tears coming to my eyes.
I covered my mouth with my free hand to keep me from squealing, even though i ended up squealing into my hand anyway.
