Light heavyweight boxer, Briama Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku says he owes Ghanaians no apology for faking his death. According to him, he staged the act to test his popularity in the country. He told journalists after the incident that,

“the time they tell the Ghanaians that I am dead, all the Ghanaians was crying. Now I see say that all the Ghanaians like me too much… I see say that I’m a big man in the nation

” When asked to apologise for falsifying his death, Bukom Banku said,

“This is not apologise. I tell the Ghanaians that I dey die. I want to see the people rushing in the nation and I see the people rushing and people dey love me too much

On Friday, November 28, 2014, it was reported that Bukom Banku had been involved in an accident on the Accra-Kumasi road but it turned out to be a hoax. According to the report, fans of the boxer rushed to his home at Bukom, a suburb of Accra to get confirmation only to realize the news was a hoax.
