Hazel’s p.o.v
It started with Jameson. We were all busy with work that day until Mandy who was checking something on her phone suddenly let out a gasp and told us to come over to her desk to check out what she was seeing.
Posted on the department group chat was a video of Jameson and some other guy with their lips engaged under the pool. Jameson looked like he was going to pass out any minute from shame.
“What is this?” Michael was the first to speak up.
Everyone’s gaze was directed towards Jameson now and that was when I realized they didn’t know about it before and that I was the only one in our department who knew about him being gäy.
With bloodshot eyes, he cast a hateful glare at me before storming out of the office.
“He is not saying anything, could this be true then?” Juliana broke the silence.
Noticing the kind of look he gave me before leaving the office, they all had their eyes on me.
“Can you find out if it’s on our department group chat only?” I asked Mandy.
“I think it’s all over the other departments group chat.” She said after checking.
“Oh my god.” I ran out of the office to look for him.
I made for the rooftop where I knew he must surely be if not in the male’s toilet.
He was there when I got there, standing at the edge with his shoulder tilted to the side.
“Jameson.” I called while making my way towards him.
“Leave now.” He ordered and I had flinched at the very harsh tone.
“I don’t…”
“Leave this place right now, Hazel”
“Listen to what I have to say at least.” I insisted.
“Leave.” He shouted. I didn’t bulge.
“Did you think I told you that so you could make it known to everyone else?”
“Trust me, I wasn’t behind that.”
“You are the only one in this company who knows about it.”
“How can you be so sure I was the one who posted it? It could be someone from outside.”
“Someone from outside uh? You think it could be my sister, a friend or my parents?”
“How am I supposed to know that? How come I’m the only person you could suspect?”
I was bitter.
“They hate me but none of them could ever do that. Also, I recorded that video myself and it was on my phone only for a day and that one day was the day I gave you my phone when you wanted to send a file from my phone to yours.”
“Someone else could have…”
“You were the only person I gave my phone to that day. Do you know what pains me the most, it was you dragging the innocent boy that was with me in the video into all this.”
“You shouldn’t be saying this to me because I wasn’t the one behind it?”
“You are lying…”
“I’m telling you I didn’t do it.” I yelled back at him, greatly irked.
I could read the shock on his face.
“I- I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you.”
“Just piss off.” He left the rooftop in rage.
“God, what’s happening?”
The office was unusually quiet throughout the remainder of that day but before the end of the day, I was able to convince Jameson to let us try tracing whoever was behind it.
We couldn’t trace the person no matter how much we tried making me unable to claim my innocence.
The guy in the video with him was the son of a very well known bishop of a catholic church.
My mother knew him as she called to ask me if I saw the video too.
It turned out the video was not only on the company’s departments group chat but all over the internet as well.
According to what I heard, the father of the boy wasn’t even aware of his son being a homoséxual.
At the company the following day, there were murmurings among everyone about what happened.
Jameson also didn’t show up at work and I had the fear he might never show up again.

I stopped by at his apartment after getting off work that day, but he wasn’t home. Madrigal noticed the way I was acting kind of off at home, but I couldn’t get myself to tell him what was going on.
It was the same thing the following day, he wasn’t at his apartment.
After waiting for some time with the hope of him returning, I left for home.
Madrigal’s phone was on the side table when I stepped into our room, which could only mean he was home already.
I made my way to the door of the bathroom to check on him.
“madrigal, are you in there?”
“Hey you are back. How was work?”
“Good. Can I come in?”
“Just a minute please.” After some time, the door creaked open and he appeared at the door.
“I’ve missed you.” I wrapped my arms round him in a hug.
This was followed immediately by a low grunt from him and I had to quickly pull away.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing.”
“You let out a grunt just now and you say it’s nothing?”
Instead of answering my question, he pulled me back unto his chest before clasping his arms round me.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” I asked.
“I’m okay, really.”
