Bisa Kdei is an ungrateful musician – Socrates Sarfo

Ghanaian movie producer Socrates Sarfo has lashed out at highlife musician Bisa Kdei accusing him of being ungrateful.

Socrates does not understand why the acclaimed highlife musician will go thanking his fans for his success and leave out his producer.

He vented his anger at Bisa Kdie on Facebook Sunday evening shorly after the musician heaped praises on his fans during an interview on Pluzz FM.

He wrote, “Bisa Kdei is an ungrateful musician.”

Supporting his comments on Hitz Entertainment News on Monday, Socrates said, “if someone has promoted you and you are thanking the fans and not the producer, isn’t that ungratefulness? They always look down on producers, actors look down on producers, everybody looks down on producers but when they are in dire need then they will be on producers.”

The outspoken producer also recounted Bisa Kdie’s tough journey to fame.

He said, “Was it not ‘Azonto Ghost’ that made him popular? It took a film producer Mustafa Adam to be promoting the song, paying the payola and after that Bisa took all the glory he played everywhere and took the money and he couldn’t even say thank you.”

“He played shows and took money for it and after making the name, when you call him to do a song for you, he’ll tell you he won’t do it and start quoting outrageous figures even more than production cost,” the movie producer added.

Asked if the film producers had a contract with Bisa that binds him to perform the songs for the music videos and to pay a percentage of the hit songs to the producers, Socrates said,

“I called you to work for me and why did he even charge me? It wasn’t for free and after doing it who then does it belong to? It’s for me that is why you took the money and the purpose of the song is my movie so if you want to use it for other purposes, then we have to negotiate.”

“Where were those fans when you were roaming and begging for your songs you recorded to be played. Songs that no one had heard before. It was only when the producer paid monies for some of those songs to be played before you even came to the lime light? Nobody knew you, where were those fans,” he added.

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie is currently not a happy man. His official email account for his major transactions and bookings has been hacked.

The award winning musician announced and warned unsuspecting persons that an unknown person had hacked into his email account.

Just like imposters, who use a celebrity’s identity to lure and dupe fans, hackers deploy a different modus operandi. They target valid accounts of the celebrity, hack into the accounts and use them to dupe fans.

Sarkodie disclosed on microblogging site twitter on Monday that “Ma email got hacked …. Dude sending people emails asking ma contacts for money smh!!”

The ‘You Go Kill Me’ singer attached a screenshot of an email the hacker sent to UK-based Ghana radio presenter DJ Abrantee.

In the email, the hacker asks the DJ for some financial assistance although he or she did not mention the exact amount needed.

“Good afternoon and how are you doing bro ? I need your urgent help little amount of money to someone for something very important and will be happy if you can help me with this and i will surely refund it back to you one i am back,” the hacker said.

It is unclear how many people the hacker has contacted but Sarkodie’s message shows the hacker has contacted quite a sizable number of his friends.

Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has promised to refund by the end of the year, the GH¢51.2 million judgement debt paid him by the state.

According to his lawyer, Mr Osafo Buabeng, his client had had two meetings with the Attorney General (AG) and Minister of Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong and modalities were being set out on how the money would be paid.

He therefore gave the assurance that the money would be paid by the end of 2015.

The Supreme Court Tuesday31st March 2015 gave the AG the all-green to pursue and retrieve the money from Mr Woyome.

The AG had filed an application at the Supreme Court to seek direction on how to retrieve the money.

The Supreme Court in July 2014 unanimously ordered Woyome to refund GHȻ51.2 million to the state. According to the court, Woyome got the money out of unconstitutional and invalid contracts between the state and Waterville Holdings Limited in 2006 for the construction of stadia for CAN 2008.

It held that the contracts upon which Woyome made and received the claim were in contravention of Article 181 (5) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which requires such contracts to be approved by Parliament.

Effect Of Dumsor, Multimedia Stations Close At Midnight

To mitigate the debilitating effects of the ongoing power crisis, the management of Multimedia Group Limited, the parent company of Joy FM, Adom FM, Hitz FM and Asempa FM and a host of TV and online networks, has taken a decision to cut back on overnight transmissions.

The decision means broadcasts on all these networks, including radio stations in Kumasi – Nhyira and Luv FM – will end at midnight and resume at 4 am each day until further notice.

The power crisis has taken a toll on many businesses across the country. Many firms have had to adopt cost-cutting measures in a bid to keep jobs and their business running.

One of the major challenges affecting business operations is the expenditure on fuel to power generators or power plants.

Chief Operating Officer of Accra Radio, Ekyi Quarm, said over the past three months, when a nationwide power rationing exercise started, Multimedia has been digging deep into its finances to sustain normal broadcasts.

“However, it’s gotten to a stage where we can no longer do that. So since last week, we’ve been going off from midnight to 4am. This applies to our operations in Kumasi as well”, he explained.

Generators running Multimedia transmitting sites are also being managed to cut down fuel costs

According Ekyi Quarm, expenditure on fuel over the past months has risen exponentially, from GH¢2,000 to GH¢20,000 for radio alone every month.

The Multimedia Group spends about GH¢60,000 a week to run its generators across all platforms in Accra and Kumasi, a situation that has taken a heavy toll on the company’s resources.

“We have to conserve to survive”, Ekyi Quarm said.

A 500 megawatt shortfall in power generation, representing almost a third of the 2,000 megawatts needed, kickstarted the nationwide plunge into a frustrating energy crisis.

Power producer, Volta River Authority (VRA), has said the situation, which is by the far the worst in the country’s history, has intensified due to the low levels of water in the Akosombo, Bui and Kpong dams.

Furthermore, the strategic Asogli thermal power plant is down to half capacity which is equivalent to about 90 megawatts.

Cenite, another thermal plant in Tema, is also down, further depriving the nation of some 100 megawatts of power; while TICO in Takoradi is also down.
The situation got to a head when the loadshedding exercise, characterised by 12 hours of power and 24 hours of power cut, was extended to industrial enclaves across the country.
