ELENA
Lately, I didn’t have much to do at all. I’m a very boring person, keep to myself and all.
My tummy rumbled in hunger. I hadn’t eaten anything during my lunch break, I didn’t eat anything the moment I got home.
I got up towards the kitchen to try and cook something lightly probably noodles or something.
I whistled slightly waiting for it to get ready so I could eat.
After about ten minutes, I switched off my cooker and placed the food in a plate so I could eat.
“f**k!”
I screamed and the food slipped from my grip. Seating on the sofa was Van Mikeslson. I don’t even want to know how he got into my apartment.
“I’m calling the cops.”
I quickly reached for my phone on the counter.
“That won’t be necessary Elena. I didn’t come here to argue, I just came here to say something. It’s even work related. ”
I carefully placed the phone down staring at my ruined meal. Once again, my tummy grumbled.
I averted my eyes and focused on Van. The sooner he leaves, the faster I can order take outs.
“What is it?”
I shot at him rudely.
“You’re coming over to Mikeslson Industries tomorrow right? After the check-ins and all, we have another deal to sign.”
“What do you mean?”
“It won’t take long. It’s in another part of town.”
“Mr O’Cornner didn’t say anything to me, I cannot work outside the orders of my employer.”
“I know.”
He says breathlessly.
“I’ll inquire from Mr O’Cornner tomorrow morning before i get to your office. If he grants me permission then I’ll surely be there.”
“Alright then. I’ll see you tomorrow Lena.”
I froze at the nickname he had for me.
“Don’t call me that.”
I reprimanded then slammed the door in his face. I brushed the hair falling to my face with a sigh.
“I don’t want to remember, I don’t want to remember.”
I repeated rubbing my temples.
I quickly swept the food from the floor, took some sleeping pills going back to bed. It’s the only way I can prevent any more visits from memory lane.
I cannot and will not shed any tears by remembering what happened.
I’ll find something to eat, I just have to.
Damon’s Pov
“I’ve told you for the upteeth time Jenny, we aren’t ever getting back together. Stop calling.”
“It’s because of that b***h right!”
“If you’re talking about Elena, she isn’t a b***h. You caused this by yourself with your tantrums. I put up with you thinking you would change but I can’t anymore.”
“It’s because of her I knew it! You never refer to any of your personal assistants by their first name. Why does she have to be different huh Damon! I’m begging you,I need you please come back to me.”
I heard her sobs through the receiver. Fake tears, I’m not falling for those ever again. She can never change.
“I’m sorry Jenny, it’s over. For good.”
I hung up and tossed my phone to the side.
Suddenly, my mind drifted off to Elena. I can call her that right? Jenny is acting paranoid as usual. Elena is just my assistant and nothing more.
“Then why are you looking into her past?”
My subconscious teases, I ran my hands through my hair without an answer.
“Why am I looking into her past? Sheer curiousity or something more? What makes Miss Salvatore so special and different from the rest?”
I thought to myself but again, received no response.
