The first batch of 116 buses promised by President John Dramani Mahama in his state of Nations Address have arrived. The aim to give Ghanaians a good means of transportation which the President in his State of the Nations address to Parliament mentioned, that public transportation is being improved through the acquisition of 490 buses to strengthen the operations of two public transport companies namely the Metro Mass Transit and the Intercity STC.
The buses will also fuel the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. Reports indicate that some of the buses are design for easy access by persons with disability. The buses that have arrived will be used by the Metro Buses Transit to help start the Bus Rapid Transit System this year according to sources a the Ministry of Transport.
