Controversial hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese, who was arrested by the police in Kumasi for allegedly smoking cannabis in public has been denied bail again.

This is the second failed attempt to get bail. The rapper appeared in court Monday morning hoping to secure bail after the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court, presided over by Judge William Boampong, remanded him into prison custody on his first appearance on November 24.

The controversial rapper was arrested by the police in Kumasi on Saturday, November 22 for allegedly smoking cannabis in public. The court remanded him at the Kumasi Central Prison to reappear on Monday, December 8 after prosecutors argued that they were still investigating the matter till December 22 to court again

Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor, who was in court, said the Judge refused to grant Kwaw Kese bail, who was brought to court at 8:45am in a taxi by two police officers, on the grounds that the use of narcotics is a non-bailable offence.

Kwaw Kese’s lawyer, Kwasi Boaitey argued that the denial of bail is setting a bad precedence for legal system. The packed (KMA) Circuit Court had some well-known faces including Pastor Lord Kenya, Edem, Guru, and Tic Tac in attendance.
