√HEAVY RAIN SINKS ACCRA CAUSES FEAR AND PANIC

A little over a year after Accra had recorded one of its worst disasters in its history with the infamous June 3, 2015 fire and flood which claimed over 100 lives and destroyed properties, major parts of the national capital, including the Flagstaff House – the seat of government – submerged again yesterday.

Residents of Site 7 in Tema Community One are in a state of disbelief following the disappearance of a two-and-half-year-old girl who was reportedly swept away by raging floodwaters Thursday morning.

A high court in Accra yesterday ordered for the immediate and unconditional release of all frozen bank accounts belonging to Sylvester Mensah, former Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

 

√BAWUMIA STORMS OBUASI

The running mate of the NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was greeted by scores of party supporters and sympathisers Wednesday as he visted the gold city of Obuasi to pray with the Muslim community in the municipality.

 

√AK-47 RIFLES CONCEALED IN RICE

The Northern Regional Police Command has confiscated a bag of local rice containing three AK-47 rifles, three magazines and 160 live ammunition at the Samkpala lorry station in Tamale. The bag of rice was bound for Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region.
